A Foundation Built On Experience
Originally operating as BW Caulfield, the business developed from earthworks and forestry contracting to include wood processing. Untreated timber by-products were processed and supplied to overseas markets, establishing an approach that remains part of our business today—finding useful purposes for materials that might otherwise be discarded.
That history has shaped how we work. We understand machinery, materials and the demands of getting a job done. We also understand that the decisions made on site can influence what happens to those materials next.
A Vision That Connects The Whole Job
Owner Alex Caulfield has continued to develop the business into a multifaceted group, connecting construction and transport with waste minimisation and material recovery.
The thinking behind that development is practical. Construction requires materials and machinery. Excavation and demolition generate by-products. Transport connects the activities, while processing can create opportunities to return suitable materials to productive use.
Bringing these capabilities together allows us to consider more of the project—from initial excavation and material movements through to pavement construction, surfacing and recovery.
Seeing Value In What Comes Next
Taking waste to infrastructure starts with understanding what remains useful.
Suitable concrete can be crushed and processed for reuse. Excavated rock can be recovered for appropriate applications. Untreated wood can be processed into useful products, including firewood.
Each material needs to be assessed against its intended use and the requirements of the project. Our approach is to identify practical opportunities for recovery, coordinate the necessary processing and transport, and find an appropriate next purpose.
It is this connection between construction and recovery that continues to shape our direction.
